A man named Abdul Gafur (70) was killed in a clash between two parties in Santhia, Pabna over a previous dispute. The incident took place on Thursday afternoon, February 19, in Khairbaria village of Nandanpur union of the upazila. At least 5 people from both sides were injured in the incident and 4 people were arrested by the police. Local sources said that the arrested Moen Uddin (45), son of Abu Taleb of the same village, has been dealing drugs in the area for a long time.
The deceased had a fight with Gafur's son Alam over borrowing money to buy drugs. As a result, Moen went to Alam's house with his people on Thursday afternoon. At one point during the argument, a clash broke out between the two. At that time, Alam's father Abdul Gafur (70), deceased Abul Hossain's son Manik (43), Abu Taleb's son Moen Uddin (45), and Selim's wife Mayuri Khatun (34) were injured.

The injured were admitted to the Santhia Upazila Health Complex. The on-duty doctor declared Abdul Gafur dead and the seriously injured Manik was shifted to Pabna General Hospital. Police arrested Moen Uddin (45), his wife Reshma Khatun (34), Manik Hossain (43) and Sajib (25) in connection with the incident.
Santhia Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rafiqul Islam admitted the incident and said that a person named Abdul Gafur was killed in the clash that took place after a dispute over money between the deceased's son Alam and Moen Uddin. Three people have been detained for questioning.
