Chittagong Correspondent:
The Chittagong Customs House has put up 102 more container goods for online auction to ease the container congestion at Chittagong Port, increase the port's efficiency and quickly dispose of long-standing undelivered goods. The National Board of Revenue (NBR) said that this June auction will be conducted completely digitally and no reserved value has been set.
A press release by the NBR on June 2 (Tuesday) said that a total of 102 container goods will be sold in 44 lots under 'e-auction-6/2026'. The auctionable goods include various types of chemicals, machinery and parts, paper, freezers, generators, limestone, fabrics, transformers, quartz powder and household goods.
NBR said that the Customs House regularly takes initiatives to dispose of undelivered and auctionable goods to increase the efficiency and capacity of the Chittagong Port, resolve the existing container congestion, ensure physical and financial security, and prevent wastage of state resources. In continuation of this, this June auction has been organized.
Bidders participating in the auction will have to submit the deposit pay order and necessary documents in the designated tender box along with applying online. The highest bidders will have to discharge the goods in accordance with the applicable conditions of the Import Policy Order 2021-2024.
Customs sources said that the tender box for e-auction-6/2026 will be opened at 11 am on June 18. Detailed information regarding the auction can be found on the e-auction portal.
It is worth noting that in March this year, the Chittagong Customs House also took the initiative to auction 378 container goods to reduce the congestion at the port. Through this series of auctions, the relevant authorities hope to reduce the port's long-standing container congestion and accelerate operations.
