Roni Akand Special Representative Kalai (Joypurhat):
On the 45th martyrdom anniversary of BNP founder and former President Ziaur Rahman, BNP President Mahbub Alam Mithu and General Secretary Mahbub Alam have been expelled from the party on charges of engaging in 'unorganized' activities by disobeying party decisions. Show cause notices have been issued to 5 more leaders of Sonamukhi Union and Ward Committee on charges of violating party discipline in the same incident.
This was announced in a press release signed by District BNP Convener Golzar Hossain and Senior Joint Convener Masud Rana Pradhan on Sunday afternoon.

The letter mentioned that the 45th martyrdom anniversary of BNP founder Ziaur Rahman and the National Mourning Day were being observed nationwide on Saturday (May 30). But Sonamukhi Union BNP President Mahbub Alam Mithu and General Secretary Mahbub Alam alias Mahbub Member did not observe any party program. On the contrary, they used the name of District BNP leader and State Minister for Public Administration and Joypurhat-2 constituency MP Abdul Bari and indulged in obscene dancing, singing and revelry at the Jafarpur School ground of Sonamukhi Union. Considering their behavior as completely 'unorganized' and a serious breach of discipline, they were finally expelled from the party on the orders of the District BNP.

Meanwhile, after the expulsion of the Union President and General Secretary, Akkelpur Upazila BNP has issued show cause notices to 5 more leaders and activists for participating in the same program and engaging in activities against the organization's policies and ideals. This was announced in another press release signed by Akkelpur Upazila BNP President Kamruzzaman Kamal and General Secretary Arif Iftekhar Ahmed Rana this afternoon.

The leaders who have been summoned are Sonamukhi Union BNP Senior Vice President Aynal Haque, Organizing Secretary Mozammel Haque, Sonamukhi Ward 07 BNP President Masud Rana, General Secretary Abu Bakar Siddique and Sonamukhi Union Jubo Dal leader Minhaj.

The notice stating the reason stated that despite the national mourning day of May 30, they did not observe mourning as per the party instructions and indulged in a joyous festival in the name of a cultural program at the Jafarpur School ground, which is against the organization's policy and a dirty act. In addition, no consent was taken from anyone whose names were used in the guest list of that program, which is a major anti-organizational act.
The notice further states that the noticeees have been ordered to provide a satisfactory and reasonable reply within the next 7 (seven) days. Otherwise, strict action will be taken against them.
