The Advisory Council of Bangladesh Independent Reporters Council (BiRC) has been approved for the next 2 years. The concerned parties consider this approval of the Advisory Council to be very important to further accelerate the policy-making work, direction of activities and future progress of the organization.
The list of the Advisory Council approved by the organization is as follows:
Advocate Sheikh Shawkat Hossain Farhad – Chief Advisor
Advocate Md. Afsar Hossain Roni – Senior Advisor
Advocate Asaduzzaman Asad – Legal Advisor
Shri Arnab Kumar Shirshendu – Financial Advisor
The approval was announced in a press release signed by the organization’s founding president Md. Riyadul Islam Jamal and General Secretary Md. Ashraful Alam.
The announcement said that the active cooperation and guidance of the Advisory Council will add a new dimension to every activity of the organization. The Council’s contribution in various important matters including legal protection, financial planning, policy formulation will make the organization stronger and more effective in the future.
At that time, the President and General Secretary expressed the hope that—
Through the inclusion of the new Advisory Council, the organization will further strengthen its work to protect the rights of journalists, be vocal against torture and oppression, establish an independent media, and work for the welfare of the people.
The Bangladesh Independent Reporters Council believes that, “Unity is strength, unity is strength, and the journalist community will become a united party.”
