Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has recovered 20,000 pieces of Yaba tablets during a raid at the Shilkhali temporary check post on the Teknaf-Cox’s Bazar road. The BGB said that a passenger private car bound for Cox’s Bazar from Teknaf was searched at the check post at approximately 4:20 pm on Thursday (February 20, 2026).
Narcotics dog “Henry” (male, Labrador) with BGD-1128 participated with the BGB members at this time.
During the search, based on the signal from Dog Henry, 20,000 pieces of Yaba were recovered in a blue airtight packet wrapped in black scotch tape under the rear seat cover of the private car using a unique technique.
The driver of the private car, Mohammad Arafat (23), father- Hossain Ahmed, village- Baharchhara, Sabrang, Thana- Teknaf, District- Cox’s Bazar, has been arrested in the incident. At that time, the private car used for drug transportation and a mobile phone were seized. During the initial interrogation, the arrested person said that he was collecting Yaba from Teknaf and taking it to Cox’s Bazar to sell at a higher price.
Ukhia Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Md. Zahirul Islam said that intelligence surveillance has been strengthened to identify drug suppliers and related smugglers. After taking legal action against the recovered Yaba, seized private car and the arrested accused, the transfer process to Teknaf Police Station is underway.
