Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized a large quantity of Indian narcotic Tapentadol tablets by conducting a raid in the Shibganj border area of ​​Chapainawabganj. According to sources from the Chapainawabganj Battalion (53 BGB), based on a secret information, a special patrol team of the Manaksha BOP under the battalion conducted a raid in the Buglauri Ghat area of ​​​​Durlavpur Union of Shibganj Upazila at 12:05 am on Monday (March 9).

During this time, 3050 pieces of Indian narcotic Tapentadol tablets were seized from there. The estimated market value of which is about 4 lakh taka. The seized Tapentadol tablets have been deposited at Shibganj Police Station for further legal action. The BGB said that in the last three months, 53 BGB personnel have seized 232 bottles of Indian phensidyl, 389 bottles of liquor, 1568 bottles of narcotic syrup, 7550 tapentadol tablets, an engine-powered boat and a motorcycle in various operations. The estimated market value of these seized goods is around Tk 22 lakh.

In this regard, Lieutenant Colonel Kazi Mustafizur Rahman, PSC, Commander of Chapainawabganj Battalion (53 BGB), said that in addition to ensuring border security in the area under the responsibility of the battalion, the BGB is always active in implementing the ‘zero tolerance’ policy of the Bangladesh government against drugs. The BGB is relentlessly performing its duty to prevent any kind of smuggling and illegal activities.

He further said that in view of the upcoming Eid season, intelligence surveillance has been strengthened along with conducting additional patrols and check posts in the border areas and river routes to prevent all kinds of illegal activities including fuel smuggling.
