In continuation of the ongoing 2026 internal Boro paddy collection program across the country, the Manirampur Upazila Food Warehouse in Jessore has officially started collecting paddy from the marginal farmers of the upazila at a fair price of Tk 36 per kg as set by the government.
On Thursday (May 14), at 12 noon, Manirampur Upazila Executive Officer Md. Samrat Hossain officially inaugurated the collection of Boro paddy at the set price of Tk 1,440 per man at the upazila food warehouse. The opening ceremony, organized by the Upazila Food Department and chaired by Upazila Food Controller Md. Ashrafuzzaman, was attended by the guest, Upazila Agriculture Officer Md. Mahmuda Akter Bithi.
The inauguration ceremony was also attended by marginal farmer Khalilur Rahman, President of Manirampur Reporters Club Zakir Hossain, journalist Shahinur Rahman Panna, rice mill owner and chatal trader Arif Hossain, Alamgir Hossain and various media personnel under the overall supervision of Upazila Food Department Officer-in-Charge Md. Palash Ahmed.
It is worth noting that this year, Boro paddy is being purchased at Tk 36 per kg, boiled rice at Tk 49, Atap rice at Tk 48 and wheat at Tk 36 per kg. 22,930 metric tons of paddy will be purchased directly from the actual farmers at Tk 1,440 per kg in the food warehouse through the government, which will start in May and continue till August 31.
