Narish Agro Limited has been accused of forcefully expropriating the land owned by a woman through her parents in Sherpur of Bogra. According to the complaint, construction of boundary wall with brick-cement has also started on that land. The incident took place in Mandail area of ââVishalpur Union of Sherpur Upazila.
Sohel Rana, who claims to be the current occupant of the land, filed a written complaint with Sherpur police station seeking redressal in this incident. He is a resident of Mandail area and son of Alhaj Shamchul Haque. According to the complaint, Narish Agro Limited purchased land from various land owners in the vicinity for the purpose of setting up a company in Mandail area. As part of this, Mandail Mauza JL No-31, RS/S Final 339 total 32 cents of land was purchased at 1679 and 1860 dag of Khatian. Rozina Begum Rozi and Morzina Begum are the owners of the land.
Sohail Rana claimed that the company authorities purchased Morjina Begum's share but rejected the registration of Rozina Begum's share without any valid document. Miss Case No-117 (13) 2025-2026 was filed in this regard in the Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) office.
According to Sohail Rana, on the morning of January 13, when the people of Narish Agro Limited entered the land and started cutting the trees, he stopped the construction of the boundary wall. He also alleged that he was intimidated and threatened with death. He said that as his mother-in-law Rozina Begum was sick, he lodged a complaint with the police station as a representative.
On the other hand, Narish Agro Limited authorities have denied the allegation of land grabbing. Sherpur Branch Land Officer Rafiqul Islam Rafiq said that the company is doing construction work within their legally purchased and registered land. He also claimed that Sohail Rana had deliberately raised false allegations with the connivance of a gang.
Sherpur Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ibrahim Ali said that the matter related to land is under the jurisdiction of the court. However, to maintain peace and order in the area, it has been decided to call both sides for discussion.
In this context, Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Mahmudul Hasan said that the miss case filed has been dismissed as the matter is related to a civil case.
