A public meeting was held at the initiative of Kanaighat Upazila and Municipal BNP on the occasion of the implementation of the 31-point plan to repair the state structure announced by BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and to welcome former student Zakir Hossain, convener of the United Arab Emirates BNP.
Today, Tuesday at 3:30 pm, at Kanaighat East Bazar, under the chairmanship of Upazila BNP President Mamun Rashid Mamun and jointly conducted by Upazila BNP General Secretary Saj Uddin Saju, Municipal BNP General Secretary Nazrul Islam, Upazila BNP Organizing Secretary Khasruzzaman Parvez and Municipal BNP Organizing Secretary Delwar Ismail, the public meeting and reception program was addressed as the chief guest by BNP Chairperson Advisor Khandaker Abdul Muktadir.
United Arab Emirates BNP Convener Zakir Hossain spoke as the guest of honor. The keynote speaker was Koychar M. Ahmed, General Secretary of UK BNP and member of the Central Executive Committee.
Special guests included BNP National Executive Committee Small and Cottage Industries Affairs Secretary Bir Muktijoddha Abdur Razzak, former district BNP vice president Ashiq Uddin Chowdhury, vice president Mahbubur Rob Chowdhury Faisal, Iqbal Ahmed Tafadar, district BNP joint general secretary Ishtiaq Siddiqui, Siddiqur Rahman Paplu, district volunteer party convener and former central Chhatra Dal vice president Abdul Ahad Khan Jamal, metropolitan volunteer party convener Mahbubul Haque Chowdhury, district BNP deputy fisheries affairs secretary Jalal Khan, former upazila BNP president Abdul Latif, district Jubo Dal convener Advocate Mominul Islam, district Chhatra Dal president Zuber Ahmed, general secretary Delwar Hossain Dinar, and metropolitan Chhatra Dal general secretary Fazle Rabbi Ehsan.
The speakers were Municipal BNP President Nurul Islam Bulbul, Upazila BNP Senior Vice President Abbas Uddin, Vice President Haji Jasim Uddin, Barachatul UP Chairman Abdul Malik Chowdhury. In addition, leaders of BNP and allied organizations at various levels of unions and municipalities were present.
The speakers at the public meeting said that the people of the country have brought down the fascist Awami League government through a long 16-year movement struggle. The people of the country are eagerly waiting for a democratic government to be established through elections. BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman said that if the 31-point plan to repair the state structure is implemented, the country will move forward in all directions in the coming days. If the BNP government comes to power in the future, it will work to implement the hopes and aspirations of the people of the country. The speakers also said that the expatriates contributed to the fall of the Awami League government. The chief guest thanked the party leaders and activists for welcoming former student leader Zakir Hossain, the convener of the Arab-Emirates BNP, who had supported the leaders and activists with money in the movement struggle.
The speakers at the rally, starting from local BNP leaders and activists, called on the party's acting chairman Tarique Rahman to field a paddy sheaf candidate in the next parliamentary election in Sylhet-5 constituency.
Leaders and activists of BNP and allied organizations from 9 unions and various units of the municipality of the upazila joined the rally with a procession.
