A prayer meeting was held to pray for the speedy trial of the killers of journalist Asaduzzaman Tuhin, a special correspondent of the daily newspaper Pratidin Kagoj, who was brutally murdered in public in Gazipur, and for the forgiveness of his soul. At the same time, a discussion meeting was also organized in memory of the journalists killed and injured in the terrorist attacks across the country.
âOn Friday (August 15, 2025), after Asr, this memorial meeting and prayer meeting was held at the head office of the Gazipur District Journalists' Unity Council on Joydebpur Road (opposite Basan Police Station).

Al-Amin Dewan Al-Abedi, former convener of the Gazipur District Journalists' Unity Council, and under the direction of Md. Zakir Hossain Kamal, former member secretary of the Gazipur District Journalists' Unity Council.

The memorial meeting was addressed by the organization's former president Professor Abul Hossain Chowdhury, the Chief Election Commissioner for the upcoming Executive Committee Election-2025 Professor Shamsul Huda Liton, Assistant Commissioner Advocate Altaf Hossain Siraji, M Akhtaruzzaman, former Vice President Md. Ibrahim Khandaker, former Joint Secretary Belayet Hossain Shamim, former Assistant General Secretary Md. Shahidul Islam, former Organizing Secretary Chanaullah Noori, Convening Committee Member Jasim Uddin Pradhan, former Office Secretary Md. The leaders of the Gazipur Journalist Unity Council said that resistance should be built wherever there is journalist oppression. Today, my colleague brother was killed, not only him was killed, the media and media workers are in a state of insecurity, the administration should ensure the safety of journalists. The speakers said that they are grateful to the Gazipur Metropolitan Police for quickly arresting the killers of Tuhin and bringing them to justice. They thanked the GMP Commissioner and said that he has done a great job by asking for the charge sheet to be submitted within 15 days and has honored journalists.
The killers of journalist Asaduzzaman Tuhin, a special correspondent of the Daily Pratidin Kagoj, must be given the maximum punishment through a tribunal immediately. Otherwise, the Gazipur District Journalists' Unity Council will call for a strict movement. Only after ensuring the maximum punishment (death penalty) for the killers of Tuhin through continuous movement will we turn back. The leaders also said that with the rate at which journalists are being tortured in Gazipur and across the country, no more journalists will publish investigative news. Therefore, the administration must take the responsibility of protecting journalists so that no more journalists are tortured.
