In order to further consolidate the political, social and organizational progress of the Bangladeshi American community in New York, the New American Youth Forum and the New American Women's Forum organized a colorful annual dinner and 'meet and greet' event to celebrate the three decades of the New American Democratic Club. Organized on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at 6:30 pm at Gulshan Terrace in Woodside, Queens, the event brought together mainstream politicians, elected representatives and prominent figures from the Bangladeshi community in the United States. At the beginning of the event, musician Alvan Chowdhury performed the national anthems of the United States and Bangladesh. Everyone present stood and paid respect to the national anthems of the two countries. The event was hosted by Nusrat Alam, President of the New American Youth Forum, and Ahnaf Alam, the newly elected President of the New American Democratic Club. The organization's founding president and mainstream politician Morshed Alam delivered the welcome address.

US Congress member Grace Meng, New York State Senators Lee Roy Comrie and John Lew, Assembly members Jessica Gonzales Rojas, Steven Raga and Catalina Cruz, New York City Council members Linda Lee, Sandra Wong and Shekhar Krishnan, Deputy Mayor and Council member of Franklin Township, New Jersey, Shipa Uddin, and many mainstream political leaders delivered welcome addresses at the event.

Also speaking were mainstream labor leader politician Maf Mibah Uddin, businessman and political leader Fahad Solaiman, District Leader at Large of the Queens Democratic Party Attorney Moin Chowdhury, Dr. Dilip Nath, Republican Party leader Nasir Ali Khan Paul, veteran journalist Syed Mohammad Ullah, freedom fighter Golam Mostafa Khan Meraj, State Committee Member Jamila Uddin, Weekly Prothom Alo North America Editor Ibrahim Chowdhury Khokon and many others.

The speakers gratefully recalled the role of Morshed Alam, founder of the New American Democratic Club, in increasing the involvement of Bangladeshi-origin people in mainstream politics in the United States. They said that only through organized political participation can the Bangladeshi American community strengthen its rights and position. The social and economic contributions of the Bangladeshi community were highly appreciated at the event.

Ten distinguished individuals and institutions were honored in recognition of their contributions to society, politics, business and human service. The honorees were New York City Public Advocate Jumani Williams, Assembly Member Jessica Gonzales Rohas, Ayesha Siddika Nowrin, prominent businessman and Dhaka District Association President Dulal Behedu, Mia Bashar, Joynal Abedin, Jahangir Alam, Amin Mehedi, Selina Sharmin and freedom fighter Faruk Hossain. In addition, special certificates were given to Ahsan Uddin (Ehsan Jewel) and the Autism Society Habilitation Organization (ASHO).

Present at the event were Morshed Alam, Founder and Executive Chairman of the New American Democratic Club, President Ahnaf Alam, President of the New American Youth Forum Nusrat Alam, President of the New American Women's Forum Advocate Rubaiya Rahman, Executive Advisor Professor Husne Ara, Officers Rabbi Syed, Anjam Siddiqui Rafi, J. Molla Sunny, Japneet Singh, Vice President Musharat Shaheen Anubha, Shah Farooq and other organizing leaders, thanking everyone for their support and cooperation.

It is worth noting that a large number of people from different classes and professions of the Bangladeshi community were present at this event, along with the mainstream elected representatives, which carries a strong message of unity and political capacity of Bangladeshi Americans in New York.
