Allegations of obtaining July fighter certificate through fraud in Rajshahi and illegal publication of newspapers.
In Rajshahi metropolis, a person has been accused of obtaining July fighter certificate by giving false information and publishing daily newspapers and journalist card trading without permission using government registration number. A written complaint has been filed with the Deputy Commissioner Rajshahi and RMP Police Commissioner in this incident.
In the complaint, Md. Sabuj Ali, a resident of Kajla area of ââward number 28 under Motihar police station, claimed that Md. Sanwar Rahman (52), alias Sanwar Arif, who came from Durgapur, Rajshahi and is currently a resident of Kajla area, fraudulently obtained July fighter certificate and took financial benefits. The complaint states that on August 5, 2024, at around 10 pm, he was injured in an attack by some local BNP-Jamaat youth in the Jahajghat area of ââMotihar police station.
Locals claim that by 5 pm on August 5, the entire country will be occupied by students/public. How did the Awami League leaders and activists attack him at around 10 pm that day? The main incident is that during the previous government, he worked as a source for an SI of Motihar police station and the attack was carried out on the charge of exposing Jamaat-BNP people at various times.
The written complaint also states that he applied for a certificate claiming that he was injured as a July fighter and later accepted the certificate and money. The complainant has demanded that the certificate be canceled and legal action be taken against him on charges of fraud.
At the same time, he has been accused of printing a daily newspaper called Rajshahi's Top Sangbad in a printing house and introducing himself as the publisher and editor, recruiting journalists and card trading. The complaint states that although the concerned newspaper has no approval or government registration, he is using the government registration number and although the office address in Kajla of the city is mentioned in the newspaper, the newspaper does not have an office.
It is mentioned that various discussions and criticisms have been created in the local journalist community regarding this. The complainant claims that the concerned person is not a professional journalist. However, there are also allegations of extortion and influence peddling using journalist identity against him. Although attempts were made to get the statement of accused Md. Sanwar Rahman in this regard, it was not possible to contact him immediately.
Two separate complaints have been submitted to the offices of the RMP Police Commissioner and the Deputy Commissioner, Rajshahi. When asked, RMP Police Spokesperson Deputy Police Commissioner Md. Gaziur Rahman, PPM, said that the complaint will be investigated and necessary action will be taken.
Deputy Commissioner Offia Akhtar said that the complaint will be sent to the concerned department for investigation. He also said that legal action will be taken if the truth of the complaint is found.
