Panchbibi (Joypurhat) Correspondent:
The BGB conducted a drive in the Panchbibi border area of Joypurhat and recovered 101 bottles of liquor coming from India. The liquor was recovered from the Chechra area of the upazila on Friday morning, September 19.
The BGB said that it received a tip-off that a large quantity of Indian liquor would enter Bangladesh. Based on this tip-off, a BGB patrol team under the Atapara BOP started hunting in the Chechra field, 1 yard inside Bangladesh from the 283/25-S pillar of the border. At that time, when a smuggler saw him coming towards Bangladesh, the BGB patrol team challenged him, but the smuggler quickly fled, leaving a sack. The patrol team searched the sack and recovered 100 bottles of Indian Officers’ Choice and 1 bottle of Magic Moments, whose Caesar value is Tk 1,51,500/-.
The BGB said that it will continue such operations to prevent smuggling in the future, following a zero-tolerance policy against drugs.
