A tragic incident of loss of life has occurred on the roads of Bhola again. Three passengers of an autorickshaw were killed when a passenger bus hit them in the Gazaria Bazar area of Lalmohan upazila on the Bhola-Char Fashion regional highway on Monday (January 26) afternoon.
The deceased are artist Rani Das (55), her brother-in-law’s son Tushar Das (20). Both of them are residents of Haradhan Das’ house in Shashiganj village of Tajumuddin upazila. The other deceased is autorickshaw driver Nasim (55), a resident of Adarsh Gram area of the same upazila.
According to local sources, artist Rani Das and Tushar Das met with an accident on their way home after receiving treatment from Char Fashion. The speeding bus hit the autorickshaw forcefully and twisted it. Three people died on the spot.
At least 20 to 25 passengers of the bus were injured in the accident. The injured have been rescued and admitted to Bhola Sadar Hospital and Lalmohan Upazila Health Complex. Doctors said that the condition of some of the injured is critical.
Meanwhile, on the same day, a college student named Sohag was killed in a separate road accident in the Udaypur road head area of Bhola’s Borhanuddin upazila. He died on the spot when he lost control of his motorcycle due to excessive speed and hit an electric pole. His friend Siam Ahmed was seriously injured in the incident.
Police said that the fatal bus has been seized after Lalmohan’s accident. Legal proceedings are ongoing in the incident.
Locals have expressed renewed concern about safety on Bhola roads due to repeated such accidents. They have demanded that effective measures be taken immediately.
