A mobile court has fined 6 businesses Tk 11,500 for storing and selling expired, unauthorized and unsafe food and products in Panchshira and Nunuj markets of Kalai upazila of Joypurhat.
On Tuesday afternoon, Kalai Upazila Executive Officer and Executive Magistrate Shamima Akhter Jahan and Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate Iftekar Rahman conducted a mobile court and warned and fined the businesses separately.
At this time, a total of 4 shops were fined Tk 9,500 under the Consumer Protection Rights Act in 1 shop in Panchshira market and three shops in Nunuj market, 1 shop was fined Tk 1,500 under the Petroleum Act 2016, and 1 shop was fined Tk 500 under the Smoking and Tobacco Products Control Act.
At that time, Kalai Upazila Executive Officer and Executive Magistrate Shamima Akhter Jahan said, “Mobile courts have been conducted for storing and selling expired, unauthorized, unsafe food and products. Such campaigns will continue in the markets of Kalai Upazila.”
