A protest meeting and human chain was held at the gate of Ramganj Municipality on Saturday, demanding safety at work, at the initiative of the Ramganj Private Hospital and Diagnostic Center Association, in protest of the attack, vandalism and looting of the hospital’s doctors and nurse staff by the relatives of the patient on the allegation of the death of a patient while undergoing treatment at Lakshmipur Millennium Hospital.
Under the chairmanship of the acting president of the Ramganj Hospital and Diagnostic Owners Association, Mohammad Nazmul Hasan Patwary, and moderated by Mizanur Rahman Bhuiyan, the association’s treasurer Md. Jasim Uddin, organizing secretary Md. Habibur Rahman, Mohammad Nazmul Hasan Patwary, Mohammad Babar Chowdhury, and Md. Faruk Hossain, among other leaders, delivered speeches. At that time, the leaders said that if the hospital authorities had made any mistake, they could have been brought under the law, but instead of doing so, they attacked the institution and looted and vandalized it, causing damage worth crores of taka. We strongly condemn this and demand exemplary punishment for the culprits. They also said that if the administration does not take immediate effective action, private hospitals across the country including Ramganj will stop their services.
