The District Detective Branch (DB) has arrested three drug dealers along with 39 bottles of foreign liquor in Begumganj, Noakhali.
They were arrested during a search of a flat on the second floor of Ma-Moni Nibas Bhaban in Ward No. 5 of Eklashpur Union of the upazila on Saturday (March 28) at around 1:45 pm.
The arrested are Md. Mahfuzur Rahman Shakib (30), son of Md. Nurul Amin of Patwari Bari in Ward No. 5 of Eklashpur Union, Hridoy Saha (32), son of Shankar Saha of Bhakta Bari in Mandal Para in Ward No. 7 of Chaumuhani Municipality, and Shipon Chandra Ghosh (32), son of Narayan Chandra Ghosh of Nikunja Ghosh’s house in Kuri Para in Ward No. 3 of Chaumuhani Municipality.
Police said that based on a secret tip-off, the police conducted a search at flat number 6 on the second floor of the Ma-Moni Nibas building in ward number 5 of Eklashpur union of the upazila. During the raid, 39 bottles of foreign liquor were recovered from the bedroom of drug dealer Shakib. Three people were arrested from the spot.
District Detective Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Ashraf Uddin said that the process of filing a case under the Narcotics Control Act against the arrested people is underway at Begumganj Model Police Station. They have been arrested in that case and sent to Noakhali Chief
