Dumuria (Khulna) Correspondent:
The two-day International Standard Chess Competition organized by Chuknagar Chess Club in Dumuria has concluded successfully. In this two-day competition, chess player Sourav Chaubey from Andhra Pradesh, India, became the champion with five and a half points, the first runner-up was Subhankar Maiti from Kolkata with five points, and Ahmed Firoz from Narayanganj was the second runner-up with five points. In addition, a total of 17 awards were given in various categories.
The chief guest said in his speech that I am very happy to be here at the closing and award ceremony of today’s International Standard Chess Competition. Chess is not just a game, it is an extreme test of brain exercise and patience. Just as a skillful move can turn the tide of the game, so too can the right plan change our lives.
Development of talent and thinking: Chess is a game that increases a person’s creativity, logic, and strategic thinking. Giving a chess board instead of a smartphone to the young generation means guiding them towards a beautiful future.
International Potential: Our country’s players are showing extraordinary talent on the world stage. Such ‘standard’ or classical format tournaments will help our players increase their ratings and help them on their way to becoming International Masters (IM) or Grandmasters (GM).
Congratulations to the winners: Congratulations to those who won today. But to those who couldn’t win, remember – in chess, you either win or you learn. Losing does not mean giving up, but correcting your mistakes and coming back anew.
On Saturday evening, a meeting was held on the fourth floor of Chuknagar Degree College in Dumuria under the chairmanship of Sardar Shaidul Islam at Milanatan. The prize distribution ceremony of this chess competition organized by journalist Deeptiman Bappi was attended by Amit Kumar Biswas as the chief guest, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Enayet Hossain, President, ACPB, Md. Asaduzzaman Asad, Vice-President, ACPB, Md. Tipu Sultan, Abdul Hafiz Mahmud, Sheikh Khairul Islam, Shafiqul Islam Gazi and others.
