Indefinite strike of tanker workers union stopped oil supply in 8 districts of North

Parvatipur (Dinajpur) Correspondent:

Supply of fuel oil has been stopped in 8 northern districts. The Rangpur Divisional Tanker Workers Union has started an indefinite strike to protest the harassment of three workers during the transportation of fuel oil.
Workers are carrying out this program by stopping all the activities of Parvatipur Railhead Oil Depot from 8 am on Sunday (March 29). Petrol Pump Owners Association and other related organizations have expressed solidarity with this.

It is learned that yesterday a tanker carrying Yamuna Company’s fuel oil left for Nilphamari from Parvatipur Railhead Oil Depot. When the lorry had a mechanical fault (dynamo problem) on the way, the driver and assistants were opening the cabin of the vehicle and doing the repair work.

Nilphamari District NDC Niaz Bhuiyan arrived at the scene and accused manager Ekramul Haque, driver Sri Krishna and driver’s assistant Rifat of 6 months imprisonment through a mobile court. Besides, they were fined a total of Tk 1 lakh.

In protest of this incident, the tanker workers started an indefinite strike from this morning, as a result of which the supply of fuel oil has stopped in 8 districts of the northern region.

In this regard, Ataur Rahman, president of Rangpur Division Tanklory Sramik Union, said, “If the arrested workers are not released immediately and the accused NDC Niaz Bhuiyan is not removed, the program will continue.”
As a result of this program of the workers, there is a fear of energy crisis in the respective regions.
