The city outpost police have arrested notorious drug dealer Rahima Begum alias ‘Shutuki’ in a raid in Santahar of Adamdighi upazila of Bogra.
She was arrested in a special raid in Santahar area on Friday afternoon. Later, when she was produced before the mobile court, Executive Magistrate and Adamdighi Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Ashraful Islam passed the verdict against her.
Rahima Begum was sentenced to 1 year of simple imprisonment and a fine of Tk 10,000 in the mobile court. The order mentioned that she will have to serve another 15 days of simple imprisonment in default of payment of the fine.
After the verdict was announced, the convicted Rahima Begum was sent to Bogra District Jail after completing the legal process.
According to local sources, Rahima Begum had been under the surveillance of law enforcement agencies for a long time on charges of various drug-related activities. He was arrested in the latest operation and brought under the law.
The anti-drug operation will continue, according to relevant sources.
