Ukhia 64 BGB arrested 3 drug traffickers with approximately 42,000 pieces of Yaba while smuggling it in a private car in the Shilkhali area of Ukhia, Cox’s Bazar. Among the arrested are 1 male and 2 female.
The arrested are – driver Md. Masud Sharif (22), son of the deceased Habibur Rahman of Uttar Para (Ward No. 8) area of Teknaf Police Station, and Mosa. Beauty (27), daughter of the deceased Shafiqul Islam of Samity Para area of Cox’s Bazar Sadar Police Station, and Mosa. Mahim (19), daughter of the deceased Abdur Rashid.
The commander of Ukhia Battalion (64 BGB) confirmed the matter on Tuesday (April 10, 2026).
According to BGB sources, when a private car from Teknaf to Cox’s Bazar reached the Shilkhali temporary check post at around 3:25 am, the BGB members on duty conducted a search. At that time, approximately 42,000 pieces of Yaba were recovered from 21 pots wrapped with black and khaki scotch tape inside the car’s oil tank.
Three people, including the driver of the private car, were arrested in this incident. In addition, the private car and 3 Android mobile phones used for drug trafficking were seized.
During initial interrogation, the detainees said that they were collecting Yaba from Teknaf and taking it to Cox’s Bazar to sell at a higher price.
The commander of Ukhia Battalion (64 BGB) said that intelligence surveillance has been strengthened to identify drug suppliers and other gangs involved and bring them under the law. After taking legal action against the detained accused, the process of handing them over to Teknaf Model Police Station is underway.
He further said that BGB is not only committed to border security but also to preventing drugs and smuggling. Such operations will continue in the future as well.
It is worth noting that the Ukhia Battalion (64 BGB) under Ramu Sector has been playing an important role in ensuring border security and anti-drug operations for a long time.
