The BNP office in Ward No. 7 (Jangalbadhal) of Basundia, Jessore Sadar Upazila, was vandalized by unknown miscreants late at night. On Friday (June 5), the iron grill door of the BNP office in Ward No. 7 adjacent to Jangalbandhal Secondary School was broken and the furniture and framed pictures of martyred President Ziaur Rahman, former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, including other equipment, were broken and vandalized.

The incident was first noticed by passers-by on Saturday morning. Upon receiving the news, the ward BNP president, general secretary and other leaders rushed to the office premises. Immediately, people from all walks of life gathered at the spot.

Upon receiving the news, Sadar Upazila BNP Publicity Secretary Md. Safiar Rahman Shafi, Basundia Union BNP President Advocate Nuruzzaman Khan, Senior Vice President Shahidul Islam Biswas, Organizing Secretary Md. Rafiqul Islam, World General Secretary Ibrahim Hossain, Jubo Dal President Md. Firoz Khan, General Secretary Imran Hossain and leaders and workers from various wards rushed to the party office. All of them strongly condemned this heinous incident. When asked about it from the school’s night watchman Bashir Ahmed, he said, I was in school but I don’t know anything about the vandalism. I fell asleep.

Upazila leader Safiar Rahman Shafi said, it is not desirable for the party office to be vandalized while the BNP government is in power. Those who vandalized in the dark of night are terrorists and are trying to politically disturb the peaceful Basundia.

He sought the cooperation of party leaders and activists and law enforcement agencies to prevent such incidents from happening again and strongly demanded that the miscreants be brought to justice.

SI Mofazzal Hossain, in-charge of Basundia Police Camp, visited the scene and assured the arrest of the miscreants involved in the incident.
