Tanore, (Rajshahi) Upazila Correspondent:
In Tanore, Rajshahi, there have been allegations of collecting additional money from students by withholding the admit cards of SSC examinees. This incident has created anger among students and guardians.
In this incident, on Sunday (April 19), the aggrieved students were seen standing in the school premises demanding the return of the money and the removal of the headmaster, expressing their anger and raising various slogans. At this time, the headmaster strategically left the school. Later, the headmaster came to the school at the call of former president Monirul Islam. At this time, a huge commotion was created in the school office.
It is known that a total of 23 examinees are participating regularly from Kalma High School in the upazila this year. The school authorities are collecting an additional 500 taka from them. If they do not pay the money, their SSC exam admit cards are being withheld.
Examinee Hasibul Islam said that 2700 taka was taken for filling the form, 2000 taka for coaching classes and 400 taka for getting the admit card. Anwar Hossain said, 2700 taka for filling the form and 2000 taka for coaching classes were taken. But he asked for another 500 taka to get the admit card, but he was not given the admit card because he did not give it. Minhajul Islam said, I went to school on Sunday morning to get the admit card.

Our assistant teacher sir demanded 500 taka at that time. He withheld my admit card because he did not give the money. He also said, no one will be given an admit card this time unless I pay 500 taka. My father is a farmer. Earlier, he paid 7,700 taka for the form filling and 2000 taka for the coaching class after a lot of effort. Now we do not have the ability to pay 500 taka. So I am coming empty-handed. It is very difficult to think whether I will be able to take the exam or not.
In this regard, Rajshahi Education Board Chairman Professor A.N.M. Mofakhkharul said, there is no opportunity to take money to issue the admit card. He said, if the allegations against anyone are proven, strict action will be taken.
In this regard, Mohanpur Upazila Secondary Education Officer and Tanor Upazila Additional Officer SM Mahmud Hasan said, “Where and how much fee to be charged is determined by the board. There is no scope for charging any fee outside the board’s instructions. There is no scope for charging additional money beyond the examination cost and center fee that the board will determine.”
