Barendra Press Club committee dissolved, election commission formed

The 2023-2025 Executive Committee of Rajshahi Barendra Press Club has been officially declared dissolved. On this occasion, the Election Commission was formed for the elections to be held on September 16.

On Monday (September 1), at 11 am, the Executive Committee, including the President of the Press Club Shamsul Islam and General Secretary Rezaul Karim, formally handed over the responsibilities to the election officials.

The head of the Election Commission is Bangladesh Pratidin and Desh TV’s Rajshahi correspondent Kazi Shahed. The other members of the 6-member Election Commission are Advocate S. M. Jyoti ul Islam (Safi), Ittefaq newspaper’s Rajshahi correspondent Anisuzzaman, Dainik Rajshahir Alo newspaper editor and publisher Azibar Rahman, senior journalist Javed Apu and member secretary Mir Tofail Ahmed.

At this time, the outgoing executive committee members said, the responsibility of conducting the Rajshahi Barendra Press Club elections in a fair, beautiful and free manner has been entrusted to the Election Commission. They expressed hope that the Commission will be able to fulfill its responsibilities properly and deliver an acceptable election.

After assuming the responsibility, the Election Commission said, “The upcoming Rajshahi Barendra Press Club elections will be a fair, impartial and transparent election.” The Commission further expressed hope that all candidates and members will abide by the rules and regulations of the Election Commission and cooperate in conducting the elections in a peaceful environment.
