Chittagong is celebrating Eid, crowds of worshippers flock to mosques and Eidgahs

Chittagong city is filled with joy on the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr. A festive atmosphere was created in the presence of people from different classes and professions in the city’s mosques and Eidgahs. The Eid congregation was held with due dignity amidst religious solemnity.

Devotees from different parts of the city gathered in groups at mosques and Eidgahs since early morning on Saturday (March 21). Along with the big mosques, a large number of devotees also offered prayers in small mosques in the alleys.

The city’s main Eid congregation was held at the traditional Jamiatul Falah National Mosque premises. The first congregation was held here at 8 am and the second congregation was held at 8:45 am.

The first congregation was led by Khatib Hazratul Allama Syed Abu Taleb Mohammad Alauddin Al Qaderi and the second congregation was led by Senior Pesh Imam Hafez Maulana Mohammad Ahmadul Haque Al Qaderi.
Besides, another main congregation was held at 8:30 am at the MA Aziz Stadium Gymnasium ground under the initiative of the Central Eid Jamaat Committee. It was led by Dr. Syed Muhammad Abu Noman, former principal of Baitush Sharaf Adarsh ​​Kamil Madrasa.

Chittagong City Corporation Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain and various political and social figures offered Eid prayers at the premises of Jamiatul Falah Mosque. Among them were former minister Mir Mohammad Nasir Uddin, members of parliament Mohammad Abu Sufian, Ershad Ullah, Syed Al Noman and former mayor Mahmudul Islam Chowdhury, member of the Central Majlish-e-Shura of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Secretary Principal Muhammad Nurul Amin. Also present were Metropolitan Assistant Secretary Mohammad Ullah, Organizing Secretary Principal Shamsuzzaman Helali, Metropolitan Executive Council Member Fakhre Jahan Siraji and Khulshi Thana Ameer Professor Alamgir Bhuiyan Solaiman Alam Seth, along with political figures and people from different walks of life.

A total of 90 Eid congregations were held in different places in the city. Among them, devotees participated in the congregation at Laldighi Shahi Jame Mosque, Sheikh Farid (R.) Chashma Eidgah, Sugandha Residential Area Jame Mosque, Chawkbazar City Corporation Jame Mosque, South Khulshi Residential Area Jame Mosque, Sagarika Gorur Bazar Jame Mosque and other places.

Strict security measures were taken across the city for Eid. A special security zone was established in the Jamiatul Falah Mosque area by the Chittagong Metropolitan Police. In addition, patrols were strengthened in different places in the city so that no untoward incident took place.

After the prayers, special prayers were offered for the peace, prosperity and welfare of the country, nation and Muslim Ummah.
At the time, City Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain said, “We must build a happy and prosperous Bangladesh by eliminating sorrow, poverty and inequality while maintaining a harmonious environment in the society.”

Member of Parliament Mohammad Abu Sufian said, “I hope to build a safe Bangladesh by protecting democratic rights.”

On this joyful day of Eid, city residents gathered with their families and relatives to celebrate the festival.
