Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner Dr. A. N. M. Bazlur Rashid has inspected the scene of the derailment of the Nilsagar intercity train in Adamdighi, Bogra.
He inspected the accident site in Bagbari Dakshinpara area of Chhatiangram Union of the upazila at around 11 am on Thursday (March 19).
Bogra-3 (Adamdighi-Dupchanchia) constituency MP Abdul Mohit Talukder, Rajshahi Range DIG Shahjahan Ali, Bogra Deputy Commissioner Toushikur Rahman, District Police Superintendent Mirza Sayem Mahmud, Adamdighi Upazila Nirbahi Officer Masuma Begum and local UP Chairman Mohiuddin Talukder were present during the inspection.
It is worth noting that on Wednesday (March 18), around 2 pm, the Nilsagar intercity train that left Dhaka derailed in the Bagbari area near Santahar Junction Station. It is reported that 9 coaches of the train derailed and more than a hundred passengers were injured.
Upon receiving the news of the accident, four units of the Fire Service quickly reached the spot and started rescue operations. Later, two relief trains were brought from Ishwardi and Parbatipur to strengthen the rescue operations.
Santahar Assistant Station Master Shahidul Islam Ranju has been temporarily suspended for negligence in the incident. In addition, a four-member investigation committee has been formed.
Currently, the work of removing the derailed coaches has been completed and the work of repairing the railway line is underway. Santahar Station Master Khatija Khatun and Santahar Railway Deputy Assistant Engineer said that train services will be normal very soon.
