Excess male doctors in cesarean and ultrasonography, angry patient relatives

Relatives of female patients have expressed their anger over the preponderance of male doctors in cesarean operations and ultrasonography in various government and private hospitals in the country. They allege that the presence of female doctors is not being ensured in sensitive areas like maternity care and confidentiality, which is creating mental discomfort for the patients.

Many relatives have asked why important services like cesarean or ultrasonography are being provided by male doctors despite the presence of female doctors? Some believe that this is not just a manpower crisis; rather, there is also a major deficiency in the internal management of the hospitals.

On the other hand, the hospital authorities claim that in an emergency, the person in charge has to come to work. Since the number of trained female doctors is comparatively low, they have to rely on male doctors during cesarean or ultrasonography.

Health experts believe that it is important to increase the recruitment and training of female doctors to ensure the mental comfort of the patient. According to them, there should be special incentives for female doctors in departments like gynecology and ultrasonography, and the presence of at least one female staff member should be mandatory in the policy to protect patient confidentiality.

They warn that if the problem is not resolved, patient anger may increase. Failure to protect patient confidentiality in medical care will not only create social discomfort but also a crisis of trust.
