A joint team of the army and police has arrested a female drug dealer named Champa Rani (40) with a large amount of ganja and money in Joypurhat. On Monday afternoon, Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Arif Hossain led a drive in the Biswas Para Rail Basti area of the city and arrested her.
The arrested Champa Rani is the wife of Mithun Chandra of the Biswas Para Rail Basti area. 2 kg 600 grams of ganja and 80 thousand 260 taka were recovered in the drive.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Arif Hossain said that in view of the upcoming national elections, the Joypurhat district police, like the whole country, is jointly conducting this drive with the army against terrorism and those who have illegal weapons and are involved in anti-state activities as well as those involved in drugs.
He further said that the arrested drug dealer Champa Rani had been selling ganja in the Biswas Para Rail Basti area of the city for a long time. She was caught red-handed at the moment of sale. Such drives will continue.
Joypurhat Military Camp Commander Major Wazedul Islam, Sadar Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Rajib Kumar Biswas, Joypurhat Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge OC Anisur Rahman, and District Detective Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Asaduzzaman were present during the operation.
