Health Advisor for 560-bed specialized hospital for kidney cancer and heart disease in Rangpur division

Rangpur Correspondent:

The government will build a 560-bed specialized hospital for kidney, cancer and heart disease in Rangpur. The budget has already been approved for this.

Health and Family Welfare Advisor Nurjahan Begum said this while talking to reporters after visiting Rangpur Medical College Hospital on Saturday afternoon.

The advisor said that since the number of patients is more than the beds at Rangpur Medical College Hospital, many have to receive treatment on the floor. For this reason, the government has taken the initiative to build this specialized hospital. Even if not during the tenure of the current government, the next government will implement this work.

She said that the government has decided to purchase equipment for the hospitals through e-GP. If this initiative is implemented, it will be possible to eliminate irregularities and syndicates in the health sector to a large extent. The government is trying to break all types of syndicates to ensure healthcare.

Nurjahan Begum said that many doctors, nurses and technologists, including many people involved in medical services, have died during the Corona period. We have respect for them because their contribution is unforgettable. Still, action is being taken against those involved in various criminal activities including syndicates.

He further said, this movement is – some have lost their hands, some their legs, and some have lost their eyes. Those who syndicate have not seen these. Will there be no change among them? So if there is no change among you and me, how will the country change? Everyone has to think, what am I doing.

Regarding the Rangpur Children’s Hospital, he said, I will visit the Children’s Hospital. There is no reason not to start it. However, to start the hospital, manpower and equipment are needed. The previous government did not plan for this. The matter is on our mind.

Regarding the mismanagement of healthcare at the Medical College Hospital, he said, the Health Department is paying special attention to improving the quality of services at the hospitals. At the same time, steps will be taken to recruit the necessary manpower, including doctors and nurses, at the Rangpur Medical College Hospital as per the demand.
