A human chain was organized by the three upazila organizations “Journalist Welfare Fund” of Nachol, Gomostapur and Bholahat at 12 noon on Wednesday (August 14, 2025) at the Gomostapur Upazila Parishad premises to protest the murder of Gazipur journalist Asaduzzaman Tuhin and demand exemplary punishment for the killers.
In addition to members of the organizing organization, members of various journalist organizations of Gomostapur Upazila also participated in the human chain, which lasted for half an hour.
The human chain, which was chaired by the organization’s president Asadullah Ahmed, was addressed by the organization’s general secretary Shakil Reza, vice president Abdur Rahman Manik, finance secretary Tajammul Haque Arafat, members Monirul Islam, Tasiqul Islam, journalists Nur Mohammad, Alauddin Parvez, Aminul Islam, and others.
During the human chain, Sakat (Journalists Welfare Fund) President Asadullah Ahmed said, journalists are the conscience of the nation. And if this conscience is strangled, a journalist is brutally murdered by some miscreants while performing his professional duties. Then what kind of country are we living in! In this country, there is no such thing as law and order!
Continuing his speech, Sakat General Secretary Shakil Hossain said, the profession of journalism is called the fourth pillar of this country. Then the question may arise for the nation, then what level of respect do journalists deserve. However, the brutal murder of Asaduzzaman Tuhin a few days ago is not a human act. We demand the most appropriate exemplary punishment for those involved in this murder under the law. Along with this, we strongly condemn and protest this incident.
