Today, Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at 10 am, a rally, discussion meeting and cultural program were organized in Barguna to celebrate International Nurses Day 2026. The discussion meeting was held at the Golden Jubilee Conference Room of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office.
This time the theme was: “Our Nurses, Our Future, Empowerment of Nurses is Needed to Save Lives”.
The discussion meeting was presided over by the Deputy Commissioner of Barguna and learned District Magistrate Ms. Taslima Akhter. The Additional Deputy Commissioner (General), Upazila Nirbahi Officer, Barguna Sadar, Nursing Institute, Instructor-in-Charge of Barguna and students of the Nursing Institute were present at the function.
In his speech as the chairman, the Deputy Commissioner said, “Nurses are an integral part of the health system. A nurse does not just provide services, she becomes the mental strength of the patient. It is essential to enhance the professional skills of nurses and ensure due respect for our future health security.”
The speakers highlighted the importance of the nursing profession, the need to improve the quality of services, and the empowerment of nurses.
