Journalist Tariqul Shibli dies while on duty for DU Student Union elections

Tariqul Shibli (40), a city reporter for Channel S Television, died unexpectedly while on duty for the Dhaka University Students’ Union (DUCSU) elections. He was rescued unconscious at around 1:30 pm on Tuesday (September 9) and taken to Dhaka Medical College (DMCH) Hospital, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.

The deceased journalist’s village home is in Burichang police station of Comilla district. He lived in Diabari area of ​​Dhaka. He is the father of two daughters.

According to eyewitnesses, Tariqul Shibli suddenly fell unconscious while on duty for the elections around noon on Tuesday. He was immediately rushed to the hospital with the help of locals. Doctors declared him dead after reaching the hospital.

After receiving the news of his death, colleagues and the journalist community expressed shock. Various professionals from Dhaka University and the media are remembering him with condolence messages on social media.

The Dhaka University administration and the election committee have expressed their deep condolences over the tragic incident and have promised to provide all possible assistance to the family.

Tariqul Shibli, a dedicated journalist, used to cover various issues in Dhaka city, especially academics and social activities. His death has left a void in the journalist community.
