Martyrs’ Day and International Mother Language Day celebrated at Paikgachha Central Shaheed Minar

On the occasion of the great Martyrs’ Day and International Mother Language Day, a deep tribute was paid to the language martyrs at the Paikgachha Central Shaheed Minar of the upazila in Paikgachha, Khulna, in the first hour of Ekushey. The upazila administration and the upazila parishad paid tribute to the souls of the martyrs by laying wreaths at 12:01 am on February 21.

At this time, the common people from all walks of life, including Upazila Executive Officer Wasiuzzaman Chowdhury, officials of various government departments, public representatives, political party leaders and activists, representatives of social and cultural organizations, were present. After the tribute, a minute of silence was observed and prayers were offered seeking forgiveness for the souls of the martyrs of the language movement.

At this time, the speakers said that the 1952 Language Movement has formed the basis of the identity of the Bengali nation. The sacrifice of the martyrs who sacrificed themselves to protect the dignity of the mother language will be remembered forever. The day-long programs include morning processions, discussion meetings, painting competitions and cultural programs. Educational institutions, social organizations and various political parties separately placed wreaths at the Shaheed Minar.

The speakers, inspired by the spirit of the great Ekushey, expressed their determination to build a Bangladesh rich in patriotism and human values ​​by embracing the ideals of the language martyrs.
