Rafiquzzaman Abir of Dainik Ittefaq and Nizamul Kabir Miraj of Dainik Desh Pantar have been elected unopposed as the president and general secretary of the Mathbaria Press Club in Pirojpur.
The Election Commission declared them the winners on Wednesday (May 6, 26) at 5 pm on the last day of scrutiny of nomination papers, as there were no other contenders for the respective posts.
According to Election Commission sources, the candidates submitted their nomination papers within the stipulated time, focusing on the biennial elections of Mathbaria Press Club. However, on the last day of selection, since there was only one candidate for the posts of president and general secretary and there were no contenders, Rafiquzzaman Abir and Nizamul Kabir Miraj were declared elected.
The newly appointed leaders said that the biennial meeting of the Press Club will be held on May 15. The names of the full 11-member executive committee will be officially announced on that day.
Rafiquzzaman Abir and Nizamul Kabir Miraj have pledged to protect the dignity of the Mathbaria Press Club and continue to provide objective journalism on issues related to the public interest of the area. They expressed their determination to work unitedly with all the members of the Press Club.
Meanwhile, various social, cultural and political organizations of Mathbaria have congratulated and wished Ittefaq representative Abir and Desh Pantar representative Miraj for being elected president and general secretary respectively.
