MPO teachers in Kachua go on strike

Kachua (Chandpur) Representative:

As part of a nationwide program to implement the three-point demands of MPO-affiliated teachers, teachers have also observed a work stoppage in Kachua Upazila of Chandpur district.

On Monday (October 13) morning, teachers of various educational institutions in the upazila stopped teaching in the classrooms and participated in the work stoppage.

The teachers said that the movement will continue until their just demands are met. They also said, “We want our just demands to be implemented, but the government is ignoring it. Teachers are the craftsmen of nation building – no country can progress without proper evaluation of teachers.”

The teachers expressed their anger over not getting proper evaluation even after 53 years of independence. They complained, “Many governments have come and gone, but the demands of teachers are still ignored. We seek the attention of the Ministry of Education to implement the promises made by the government.”

They strongly condemned and protested the police attack on the sit-in program in Dhaka on October 1.

The teachers have urged the government to quickly implement their three-point demands: eliminating salary disparity, providing full festival and Baisakhi allowances, and ensuring equal opportunities for government teachers by eliminating irregularities in retirement and welfare trusts, so that there is no disruption to students’ studies.
