With the theme “Building a sanctuary, building a country with native fish”, National Fish Week 2025 was celebrated in Kalai, Joypurhat, like the rest of the country.
On Monday (August 18) at 10 am, a colorful rally was held to mark the occasion.
After the rally, a discussion meeting was held at the Upazila Parishad auditorium. Kalai Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Shamima Akhter Jahan was present as the chief guest in the discussion meeting, chaired by Upazila Fisheries Officer Touhida Mohtamim.
Also present at the event were Assistant Commissioner (Land) Iftekar Rahman, Upazila Agriculture Officer Krishibid Harunur Rashid, Upazila Secondary Education Officer Md. Kazi Monowarul Hasan, Upazila Youth Development Officer Aminul Islam, Upazila Rural Development Officer Golzar Hossain, Upazila Election Commission employee Ferdousi Alam, among others.
At the end of the event, prizes were distributed among the three best fish farmers in the upazila and fish fry were released into the pond in the premises of the Upazila Parishad.
