Police investigate body found with throat slit in yard late at night

A man was murdered by slitting his throat in Benapole, Jessore. The brutal murder took place inside his house in Chhota Anchra village on Thursday (August 28) night. The deceased has been identified as Mizanur Rahman, son of the deceased Hanif Sardar of Chhota Anchra village under Benapole Port Police Station, and was a butcher by profession.

Mizanur’s wife said that a van driver worked as her husband’s assistant. At around 2:30 am, the van driver called her to go to slaughter cows. Then she came out of the house and saw her husband lying in a bloody state in the yard.

Neighbor Yunus Ali said, “Mizanur was known as a good person in the area. He used to buy and sell cows and sell beef on Fridays. On the night of the incident, he woke up to the moneylender’s phone and left Mizanur’s house to go to work.

In this regard, Benapole Port Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Russell Mia told the media that after receiving the information, the body was recovered and sent to Jessore General Hospital. He said, “We are investigating who or what killed him.” A knife was recovered from the scene and no case has been filed in the incident yet.
