A pre-budget meeting for the next fiscal year 2026-27 was held in Dhamirhat No. 1 of Naogaon and in collaboration with the Eco-Social Development Organization (ESDO) ‘GoForImpact’ program. The meeting was held at 11 am on Thursday (May 7) in the Union Parishad meeting room.
The meeting, organized with the funding of the Swiss government and in collaboration with WaterAid Bangladesh and SwissContact Bangladesh, was presided over by Dhamirhat Union Parishad Chairman ATM Badiul Alam. The budget plan and local development for the next fiscal year and local development were discussed in detail in the meeting, moderated by Union Administrative Officer Md. Badiul Alam.
With the importance of climate-resilient development and waste management, the meeting mainly focused on climate-resilient water supply and solid waste management. The participants presented the public needs and proposals received from different ward levels of the union. In particular, the meeting decided to analyze detailed opinions and take action on how to ensure the availability of safe water by addressing the challenges of climate change and increase the allocation for waste management in the union budget.
On open budget and five-year plan, the meeting discussed preparations for organizing a transparent and accountable ‘open budget’ meeting for the next fiscal year 2026-27 and various aspects of the council’s five-year plan. The speakers said that for sustainable development, it is important for the budget to reflect the needs of the grassroots people.
Representatives of various government departments and development workers participated in the meeting. Present were Md. Mizanur Rahman Upazila Assistant Education Officer, Md. Rezaul Karim Deputy Assistant Agriculture Officer, Md. Enamul Islam LGED Representative, Md. Shariful Islam Health Inspector, Nadira Akhter Family Planning Assistant, Goyna Rani Sarkar Union Outreach and Mobilization Officer (ESDO).
In addition, all the members of the Union Parishad and local dignitaries were present in the meeting and expressed their well-considered opinions. The meeting was declared closed with the determination to build a prosperous and environmentally friendly union.
