Press conference demanding inclusion of kindergarten students in scholarship exams in Joypurhat

Joypurhat Correspondent:

A press conference has been held in Joypurhat demanding the inclusion of kindergarten students in the primary scholarship exam. The press conference was held at the Joypurhat Press Club at 12 noon on Tuesday (August 12).

A written statement was read out by Sultan Md. Shamsuzzaman, President of the District Kindergarten Association.

In his written statement, he said that although government primary school students can participate in the scholarship exam, kindergarten and private school students are being deprived of this opportunity. Kindergarten and private primary school students should be given the opportunity to participate in the Primary Scholarship Exam 2025. Getting a scholarship is not discrimination, it is the right of all students to have equal opportunities. If private and kindergarten students are not given the opportunity to participate in the scholarship exam along with government school students, it will be extreme discrimination.

He alleged that although kindergarten students could participate in the scholarship exam until 2019, it has been stopped since 2022, which is tantamount to extreme discrimination. Considering the matter urgently, the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, the Directorate of Primary Education and the concerned authorities have been demanded to take necessary measures to include kindergarten and private students in the scholarship exam.

They warned of a nationwide program if the decision to include kindergarten students is not announced immediately.

Also present at the time were the organization’s vice-presidents Sufia Sultana, Gulshana Ara, Ehsanul Haque Nazmul, Rabiul Islam, general secretary Shakiul Islam and organizing secretary Shamim Hasan, along with the leaders of the organization.
