Tree plantation program held at Monohardi by Rotary Club

The “Plant a Tree – Save a Life” program was held on Saturday (September 6) at the hall of LK Union Bahumukhi High School in Monohardi Upazila of Narsingdi.

The program began with a guest reception, Quran recitation, Gita reading and the national anthem performed by the school students. Rotary Narayan Chandra Das (PP, Kakrail) delivered the welcome speech. Rotary Mohsinul (FCA, President, Dynamic) highlighted the activities of Rotary International. Rotary Shila Rani Das (President, Kakrail) presented the goals and objectives of the project.

In addition, UP members Rakibul Islam Rakib, Taiz Uddin, Masud Sarkar, Rupok Morol, Ruhul Amin Saikat, Akhter Hossain (Principal Teacher, Sagardi Girls High School), Harunur Rashid (President, Sagardi Girls High School), Niranjan Das (Senior Teacher, LK Union Multipurpose High School) and other local teachers also spoke.

The program was presided over by Dr. M. H. Kabir, an alumnus of the school and current president of the managing committee. He also delivered the closing speech.

As part of the program, saplings were distributed among the students. Later, trees were planted on Sagardi Bypass Road, various educational institutions, mosques, temples and Eidgah grounds and fish fry were released in the Brahmaputra River. The program was supported by UP member Rakibul Islam Rakib and moderated by Rotary Md. Al-Amin.

Rotary Club of Kakrail Dhaka and Rotary Club of Dhaka Dynamic participated in the planting activity. The coordinating club was Rotary Club of Dhaka Midtown. In collaboration with Narendrapur Royal Club, Char Ahmedpur Al Ihsan Foundation and Bir Ahmedpur Gram Unnayan Parishad.
