The police have arrested a youth named Md. Rokon (25) on charges of attempting to rape a five-year-old girl in Tentuljhra Jhauchar area of Savar. On Saturday (January 24), Savar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Arman Ali confirmed the matter at around 11 am. Earlier, he was arrested from Tentuljhra Jhauchar area of Savar upazila on Friday (January 23) evening.
The arrested Md. Rokon is the son of Abdur Rahim of Nandan Para area of Islampur Police Station of Jamalpur district. He lived in a rented house in Tentuljhra area of Savar and worked in a local garment factory.
According to police sources, the accused Rokon and the victim’s family lived in the same house as tenants. The child called him uncle. According to the complaint, the accused took the child to his room on the pretext of showing cartoons on his mobile phone and later tried to rape him by taking him to bed.
At that time, the child’s mother entered the accused’s room to look for her daughter and found him naked. When the matter came to light immediately, the locals informed the police. Upon receiving the information, the police quickly reached the spot and arrested the accused.
In this regard, Savar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Arman Ali said that the accused was immediately arrested and legal action has been taken against him. The victim child has been admitted to the One Stop Crisis Center for medical treatment and psychological support. Besides, the accused is being sent to court.
