A young man named Tajul Islam (16) was killed by members of a youth gang in Kalapara upazila of Patuakhali. The brutal murder took place at around 11:30 pm on Saturday (May 30) in Machuakhali village of Champapur union of the upazila.
The local people have arrested three teenagers on charges of involvement in the incident and handed them over to the police. The deceased Tajul Islam is the son of Faruk Hawlader of the village. Random attack, 3 arrested while fleeing.
According to local and police sources, between 11:30 pm and 12:00 pm on Saturday, members of a youth gang, Riyad (17), Sajeeb Khan (17) and Hridoy Molla (18), who were hanging out in Machuakhali village, suddenly attacked Tajul Islam. They hacked Tajul with sharp weapons and seriously injured him.
When Tajul fell to the ground in a bloody state, the attackers tried to flee. At that time, local residents came forward and chased and arrested the three accused red-handed. They were later handed over to the Kalapara police station.
The locals rescued Tajul Islam, who was seriously injured before he could be taken to the hospital, and immediately took him to the nearby Amtali Upazila Health Complex. However, the doctor on duty at the hospital declared him dead after examination.
Police investigating, preparing a case Confirming the matter of the murder, Kalapara Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Md. Hamidul Haque said that it is initially believed that the murder may have been committed due to past enmity, dominance in the area or a personal dispute.
He also said that the three arrested accused are currently being kept in police custody for preliminary interrogation. A police investigation is underway to uncover the real reason for the murder. The victim’s family is in the process of filing a case and taking further legal action in this incident.
