10 stolen laptops recovered in Narail, two members of an inter-district thief gang arrested. 10 laptops were stolen from an educational institution in Narail district recently. In view of this, a case was registered at the Sadar Police Station of Narail district. During the investigation of the registered case, the Narail district police conducted a drive and recovered 10 government laptops stolen from Narail and arrested 2 members of the inter-district thief gang involved in the theft incident. In order to educate school and college students in modern technological education, the government’s ICT department provides high-quality laptops and other ICT equipment to various educational institutions. On 03/08/2025, from 9.00 am to 10.00 am, after completing the practical class in the ICT-D lab of Narail Shimulia College, at approximately 2.00 pm, he locked the lab door and went home.
Later, on 25/08/2025, as the ICT practical exam of the college was to be held, on 24/08/2025, at approximately 10.00 am, he opened the lock of the lab along with the college cleaner Mosharraf Sardar. After entering, he saw that out of the 17 government-allocated laptops inside the lab, 11 laptops were of Walton Company, whose estimated value was (65000 x 11)-7,15,000/- Taka and 01 laptop of the plaintiff’s personal Compaq Company, whose estimated value was 40,000/- Taka and the grill and curtain of the window behind the ICT D room were cut. Then the college cleaner Mosharraf Sardar immediately informed the Principal Sir about the incident.
The Principal Sir came to the ICT-D lab along with other colleagues of the college. The Principal of Narail Shimulia College informed the Narail Sadar Police Station. Sadar Police Station SI (Retd) Sheikh Sujat Ali arrived at the spot on the instructions of the higher authorities and inspected the scene. We have appointed multiple trusted sources to identify the thieves involved in the incident.
We conducted an operation to recover the stolen goods. On 27/08/2025 at approximately 03.45 pm, accused No. 1 Md. Ujjal Sheikh was arrested from Agdia Bazar. When the arrested accused Md. Ujjal Sheikh was questioned about the theft of laptops from the college, he said that Bayezit Sheikh (17), Md. Rocky (26) and Md. Liton Litan Molya (39) together stole 12 laptops from the college. Accused Ujjal Sheikh said that out of the 12 stolen laptops, 1 laptop was taken to his house. Then, we went to his house with the arrested accused Md. Ujjal Sheikh and searched it.
During the search, the arrested accused Ujjal Sheikh found 01 Walton Company laptop, model number WPBX5107GRF102112222, estimated value 65,000/ Taka, kept inside a white plastic bag on the awning of his residence. On 27/08/2025 at approximately 5.15 pm, we seized the said laptop on the basis of the seizure list. When the arrested accused was questioned about the other stolen laptops, he said that the remaining laptops are with the absconding accused. According to the information given by the accused Md. Ujjal Sheikh, on 28/08/2025 at approximately 1.15 am, we arrested 2 children involved in conflict with the law. Md. Bayezit Sheikh (17) from his own residence.
When interrogating Md. Bayezit Sheikh, he said that a laptop was kept under the kitchen cupboard of the house of accused No. 1 Md. Ujjal Sheikh. Then, along with Md. Bayezit Sheikh, a child involved in conflict with the law, they went to the house of accused No. 1 Ujjal Sheikh and, as shown by the child involved in conflict with the law, they recovered a Walton Company laptop, model no. WPBX5107GRF102111901, estimated value 65,000/- Taka, from under the kitchen cupboard of accused No. 1 Ujjal Sheikh.
The police seized the said laptop on the original seizure list on 28/08/2025 at approximately 01.45 hrs. When the arrested accused and the child involved in conflict with the law, Md. Bayezit Sheikh, was questioned about the remaining laptops, Bayezit Sheikh said that out of the remaining laptops, the arrested accused No. 1 Ujjal Sheikh and the absconding accused No. 3 Md. Rocky had kept 4 laptops in the rented house of the wife of the accused No. 1 Ujjal Sheikh in Durgapur village under Abhaynagar police station in Jessore district, and the child involved in conflict with the law, Md. Bayezit Sheikh himself and the arrested accused No. 1 Ujjal Sheikh together kept the 4 laptops in the rented house of the wife of the accused No. 1 Ujjal Sheikh in Durgapur village under Abhaynagar police station in Jessore district. Then, along with the child involved in conflict with the law, I arrived at the rented house of the wife of the accused No. 1 Ujjal Sheikh in Durgapur village under Abhaynagar police station in Jessore district at approximately 3.5 am on 28/08/2025. Seeing that the house was locked, the owner of the house, Abul Kalam Azad (40), called his father, the deceased Abdul Hamid. The owner of the house, Abul Kalam Azad, broke the lock of the locked room with a crowbar in the presence of the police and witnesses and found 7 Walton company laptops under the mattress on the floor of the room, whose model numbers are 5107GRF10211, 1. WPBX5107GRF102111994, 2. WPBX 2016, 3. WPBX5107GRF102112279, 8. WPBX5107GRF102112794, 5. WPBX51 07GRF102113094, 6. WPBX5107GRF102113285, 7. WPBX 5107GRF102113305 Total value (65000 x 7)-4,55,000/-Taka and 1 Compaq company laptop, whose model number is Compaq Presario-CQ40, estimated value 40,000/Taka was recovered.
The said evidence was seized on 28/08/2025 at approximately 03.50 hours on the original seizure list. When the arrested accused and the child involved in conflict with the law were questioned about the remaining 2 stolen laptops, they revealed that the remaining 02 laptops are with the absconding accused No. 3 Md. Rocky. The arrested accused also learned that the absconding accused No. 4 Md. Liton Liton Molya is involved in the planning of the said theft.
The absconding accused No. 3 and No. 4 worked on the Wi-Fi line in the ICT-D lab of the college a few days before the mentioned incident. The absconding accused Nos. 3 and 4 used the ladder used for their Wi-Fi line for theft. The said accused committed the theft between 03/08/2025 at approximately 02.00 pm and 24/08/2025 at approximately 10.00 am.
Under the instructions of the competent Superintendent of Police of Narail district, Mr. Kazi Ehsanul Kabir, the police took action to arrest the accused involved in the theft. Under the supervision of the Officer-in-Charge of Sadar Police Station of Narail district, Mr. Md. Sajedul Islam, SI (retd) Sheikh Sujat Ali, along with the accompanying force, conducted a raid on August 28 (Friday) and arrested the accused named in the complaint of this case, Md. Ujjal Sheikh (38), father-Md. Azizur Sheikh, mother-Mosa: Chhayera Begum, Sang-Agdia, Police Station and District-Narail from their homes. The accused has been handed over to the learned court. Multiple teams of the district police are working to arrest the other accused.
