A clash occurred between two BNP groups in Durgapur Upazila of Rajshahi, resulting in serious injuries to several BNP leaders. Among the injured is Upazila BNP member secretary Zubair Hossain.
He was first taken to the Durgapur Upazila Health Center and later admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.
According to initial information, a discussion meeting was held at the Durgapur Municipality Hall Room on Friday (August 29) afternoon to mark the establishment anniversary of BNP on September 1. The meeting was led by Upazila BNP member secretary Zubair Hossain. Various BNP leaders and activists from various parts of the Upazila were present in the meeting. A sudden uproar arose over the seating arrangement and announcement of names in the meeting. At that time, leaders and activists of Jubo Dal, Chhatra Dal and Swechchhasebak Dal attacked a senior BNP leader. Zubair Hossain was seriously injured.
Apart from this, former general secretary of the upazila BNP Saidur Rahman Montu, former chairman of the Naopara Union BNP Azad Rezaul Karim Reza and former chairman of the Pananagar Union BNP Rabiul Islam Robin were also insulted.
After the incident, a tense situation prevailed in Durgapur. After receiving the information, the Durgapur police brought the situation under control. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Durgapur Police Station Atiqul Islam said that there was a clash between two groups of the BNP. Currently, the situation is normal. No complaint has been filed in this incident yet. If a complaint is received, legal action will be taken subject to investigation.
