The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) pushed 13 people through the Chamusha border in Bholahat upazila of the district. They were pushed into Bangladesh around 5 am on Thursday (August 14).
Later, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members arrested them. It is learned that members of the 119th Battalion Camp of BSF pushed 13 people through the area near the border pillar 196/2-S in the area under the responsibility of Chamucha BOP in Bholahat union of the upazila.
They are, Md. Billal Hossain (32), Bishnu Barman (34), Md. Rabiul Islam (30), Pintu Sheikh (30), Md. Anwar Hossain (36), Titu Pramanik (30), Md. Mehedi Hasan Munna (29), Md. Selim (29), Md. Rulas (32), Meher Ali (32), Md. Rahmat (40), Tahil Uddin Sikder (40) and Md. Mosharraf Ali (21).
Lieutenant Colonel Golam Kibria, commander of the 59th Battalion of the BGB, said that information about the push-in was received through the Chamusha border at around 5 am. On receiving the information, the BOP patrol team was able to arrest them inside Bangladesh at a distance of 800 yards from the international border.
During interrogation, it was learned that all the detainees were Bangladeshis.
During interrogation, they said that they entered India in search of work at different times from 2023 to 2025. They were arrested by the Indian police there. Later, after serving their sentences, the police handed them over to the BSF.
