Three passengers of a trader-driven autorickshaw were killed when a truck hit them in Gobindaganj, Gaibandha. The accident occurred on Tuesday (August 12) at around 1:45 pm in front of the Khalsi Moushumi petrol pump in the city on the Gobindaganj-Dinajpur road.
Eyewitnesses said that a truck carrying goods was coming from Dinajpur to Gobindaganj. A battery-powered autorickshaw carrying passengers was going from Gobindaganj to Dinajpur. On the way, the wheel of the autorickshaw came off in front of the Khalsi Moushumi filling station, causing the autorickshaw to lose control and fall in front of the truck. The truck hit it, killing three passengers of the autorickshaw on the spot.
They also said that several others were seriously injured in the accident. They have been rescued and taken to the hospital. Their condition is critical.
Gobindaganj Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mozaffar Hossain confirmed the matter and said that upon receiving the information, all the police and fire service teams reached the spot quickly and are working to recover the body and normalize traffic. Their names and addresses were not immediately known.
