Kolkata (West Bengal) Correspondent:

Today, Saturday, March 14, at the conference hall of the Academy of Fine Arts in Kolkata, the 50th state conference was held on Friday, March 13 at exactly 12:30 pm, under the initiative of the Joint Council of Bus Syndicate (West Bengal).

The special guest of this event was the state’s female bus driver – Dolly Rana, the president of the bus syndicate Sukumar Bera, secretary Tapan Banerjee, conveners Soumen Maiti, Shantanu Maiti, organizer Debangshi Das, Pallab Majumdar, Prabhat Pan and others were also present.

All the guests and members of different districts were honored at the event by wearing Uttariya and giving mementos,
This state conference was held in the 50th year after the 49th year with various issues in mind. The aim of the Joint Council of Bus Syndicate is to walk the path with everyone.

He presented it to everyone through a beautiful caption, the entrepreneur said that 50 years have passed with friends of private transport while drinking tea in clay pots, I am grateful to those who have helped me work for 50 years, those who used to run this organization, those who are not with us, I wish peace to their souls, he said that in 50 years, there has been an opportunity to discuss private transport with the Chief Minister and several Transport Ministers, but we are not finding any new direction, we are in a dark world,

They said that the race of Covid-19 has been overshadowed by the reduction of private buses in this state for several years, discussions have been held with the Transport Minister and other officials several times, but no proper light and answer has been found.

So today, we have held this conference to raise all the issues, the topics of our discussion are,

The last bus fare was increased in this state in 2018, the toll problem in every district in the state has not been resolved till today. The Hon’ble High Court has ordered that no auto or toto will be allowed to ply on NH and State Highways, but they are roaming freely on them. Despite the law, how do these vehicles ply?

We still cannot understand how Uber buses are plying in different parts of Kolkata. Day after day, there is continuous police harassment of buses in Kolkata. Cases are being filed on various pretexts. There are no specific guidelines on how buses will be acquired for election purposes in the upcoming assembly elections, in this regard, letters have been sent to the Transport Minister and Transport Secretary on 2/2/26 and 23/2/26.

Therefore, those who have attended today’s conference, the majority of bus owners’ unions of different districts, I want to say to us, our backs have been turned little by little, if you all come together, extend your hand of cooperation with the Joint Council of Bus Syndicate and strengthen the Joint Council of Bus Indicate, then we will be able to take various steps, our victory is certain. Today, little by little, we have reached fifty years. I hope that with everyone’s cooperation, we will be able to overcome all obstacles and move forward.
