8 candidates to campaign in Joypurhat after allocating symbols

Ahead of the upcoming 13th National Parliament election, symbols have been allocated to the two parliamentary constituencies of Joypurhat. The District Returning Officer handed over their election symbols to the candidates in a festive atmosphere this Tuesday morning. The formal election campaign has begun across the district with the allocation of symbols.

There are currently 5 legitimate candidates in the election field in this important constituency consisting of Joypurhat-1 (Sadar and Panchbibi) upazilas. Their symbols are: Md. Masud Rana Pradhan (Bangladesh Nationalist Party-BNP): Sheaf of rice. Md. Fazlur Rahman Sayeed (Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami): Scales (party-designated symbol).
Bequn Nahar Shikha (Independent): Horse. Toufika Dewan (BDS-Marxist): Scissors. Md. Wazed Parvez (BDS): Ladder.

Joypurhat-2 (Kalai, Khetlal and Akkelpur): Three candidates are contesting in this constituency consisting of three upazilas. Their symbols are: Md. Abdul Bari (Bangladesh Nationalist Party-BNP): Sheaf of rice. S. M. Rashedul Alam (Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami): Scale. S. A. Zahid (Amar Bangladesh – AB Party): Eagle.

District Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner Md. Al Mamun Mia handed over their allotted symbols to the candidates. Earlier, he highlighted the code of conduct in the election and urged the candidates and the concerned to follow it properly. Additional Superintendent of Police Mohammad Mahbub-un-Nabi of the district, Additional Deputy Commissioner Bipul Kumar, Deputy Director of Local Government Department Uttam Kumar, District Election Officer Mahmud Hasan and others were present at the time.

It is to be noted that the parliamentary elections will be held simultaneously across the country on 12 February 2026.
