Female passenger robbed in Rajshahi

Rajshahi Correspondent:

Incidents of motorcycle-borne robberies targeting rickshaw passengers are increasing day by day in Rajshahi. On various important roads of the city – CMB to T-Barrage Road, Laxmipur to Banda Gate, Biman Chattar to Naodapara. Such crimes are being committed almost every day in alleyways and less populated areas.

According to the victims, two to three robbers come on motorcycles and snatch mobile phones, wallets, bags and valuables from the moving rickshaw passengers and quickly flee. It is also known that many times the passengers fall from the rickshaw and get injured as a result of the sudden attack.

The most worrying thing is that during such incidents, despite the presence of a police patrol van in front, the victims do not get any help. Later, the victims go to the police station to complain, but do not get any expected help. Complaints have been made. Many people say that the police are neglecting to take general diaries or are promising to investigate, but no effective progress is seen. Even when asked to check the CCTV cameras and investigate, they are saying that the CCTV cameras are broken.

Local residents say that the robbers are taking advantage of the lack of police activity. Due to the lack of regular patrols, the lack of searching of suspicious motorcycle riders, and the lack of quick arrest of criminals, the robbers are becoming more reckless.

The city residents demand that police patrols be immediately strengthened in risky areas, CCTV camera surveillance be increased, and strict action be taken against the robbers. Otherwise, they fear that the movement of ordinary people in Rajshahi will become even more unsafe.

The city residents have called for immediate effective action, drawing the attention of the concerned police administration in this regard.
