The district police have launched a special operation to prevent recent fights and violence in the Sultanpur area of Naogaon Sadar Upazila. Three terrorists have been arrested in a joint operation by the District Detective Branch (DB) and Naogaon Sadar Police Station under the supervision of the Superintendent of Police.
The operation, which began on the night of April 19, was conducted throughout the day today. Those arrested in the operation are Md. Sohag Hossain (30), Md. Shahin Alam (27) and Md. Osman Gani alias Roni (27), residents of Sultanpur Jele Para.
Police said that a large number of domestic weapons used in the violence have been recovered from the arrested. These include ramda, kirich, hasua, Chinese axes, large knives, iron pipes and rods.
According to local sources, they were trying to create panic in the area by using these weapons for the past few days. In this situation, the police conducted this operation to bring the situation under control.
Police further said that the operation to arrest others involved in the incident is ongoing and strict legal action is being taken in this regard.
In this regard, Superintendent of Police Mohammad Tariqul Islam said, “The district police is always in a strict position to suppress terrorist activities anywhere in Naogaon district.”
